How can I see “mileage” data from the OBD port?

The current iteration of the Xirgo firmware generates mileage reports at a minimum granularity of once per 10 miles.  This is not an odometer reading.  It is a mileage counter.

It’s purpose is more suited for maintenance but is, so far, used in the following styles:

1.  Define a threshold of 3000 miles and generate an alert for oil changes.
2.  Define a threshold of 10 miles for low frequency reporting.  E.g.  only send a location report every 10 miles of distance driven.

Mileage is currently stored in the Xirgo gateway database but would require additional trigger logic and Application modification to make it viewable by the App.

The Numerex FAST (Foundation) application has already been rapidly customized for other customers so that it generates a “calculated” mileage report using GPS readings.  This is fairly standard in the industry and is believed to have an error rate of <5% given sufficient reporting granularity.  That compares favorably with Odometer based mileage, which has an error rate estimated to be 3% to 5% - due to variables in Odometer readings.  So mileage can be calculated by the application - whether for Xirgo, Enfora or any other device - or it can be pulled from the Xirgo unit in 10 mile increments.

We intend to roll this functionality into the core application soon; it should be available then as a standard feature.  If you want something sooner, or customized specifically for GPS to GO, we should scope a professional services engagement.

Within the next week we’ll be releasing our developer blog, which will give the community visibility into some of the things we’re working on. This will be the best place to see what’s coming in future releases. We’ll notify you when it’s ready.
