I noticed the changes to the reverse geocoding process did not include a zip code in teh readings table. I was wondering if a zip code column could be added and populated by the new reverse geocoding process. When i was parsing the XML in the address column myself the zip code was included in the “postalcode” tag.

I’ll gladly put in a request for us to get this added in. Our Foundation web app doesn’t make use of zip codes, but I realize that in our previous version we were storing XML that contained it. Would you mind sharing how you’re making use of the zip code? Just curious as we always like to hear how our customers are making use of the data.

Right now I’m just displaying the full addres, zip code included, to the users of our application. It may not be an issue but I have a feeling if I stopped showing the zip code that someone here would ask for it. I figured I might as well ask about it now when I noticed it was missing.

Sounds good. Let me propose a fun Monday morning exercise:

You pull the zip code from the app and if somebody says something then I’ll put in the feature request smile

If you’d rather not go down that path then I’ll put in the request asap. I simply mention this because we used to have a traffic overlay on our overview screen. The text and design to support this feature was about 300px wide and 250px high (meaning it took up a significant amount of real estate on our main screen). We made a collective decision to remove it as we were convinced that very few (if any) customers were using it. We pulled it out and never heard a single complaint. That doesn’t mean we may not need it in the future, but it was a fun exercise to see if our presumption was correct.
