Would it be possible to get a data dictionary to explain how some of the tables are populated and what some of the columns mean? I know there are some tables like “trip_events” and “runtime_events” that I would be interested in understanding.

Great suggestion. I’ll post a follow-up to this thread when we get some content posted this week. In the meantime, we have a basic introduction here:

As an add-on to this request, would it be possible to do the same for the device-specific databases as well? I realize that this might be a bit of a stretch since its really up to the device manufacturer to document their specs. Just a thought - in case Numerex has some of this information readily available…

Thanks,
Scott

The purpose of the application database it to ultimately abstract you from the device database. I realize in some instances there’s much more information in the device database than the app db. Yet we’re working on an initiative that will expose all sensor data in the application database and build from there. In the interim we can work with you directly to expose the proper data points for your application needs. Thanks for the thoughts.

The data dictionary is a work in progress, but you can see a first cut here:

http://dev.numerex.com/getting-started/article/data-dictionary-for-your-foundation-server/

We’ll be updating this over the next few days, but if there are any tables/fields that you’d like to see immediately then please let us know.
